replacement critters

The following story from Reuters is exactly why I have been frustrated the last few days about the multiple celebratory posts regarding Musab al-Zarqawi's death. It's like stomping on one damn roach and bragging about it. Just more muscle flexing and posturing by Bush to try to regain political favor. There are plenty of Al Qaeda ready to fill his spot. "Major blow against al Qaeda" my ass.

Al Qaeda in Iraq chooses Zarqawi successor
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Al Qaeda in Iraq said its new leader named on Monday would keep up a campaign of beheadings and suicide bombings begun by the Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who was killed by U.S. bombs last week.

  1. I once read that for every roach you see, there are forty behind the walls.

See, I had this major roach problem in my first apartment, so, in order to get rid of them, I did a little research. First, I found out that the previous tenants thought it was a hoot to come back from spring break to an apartment full of roaches drunk on the dredges of beer empties, so I knew I had a lot of roaches to deal with. I also knew my landlord was the type to say, "just sprinkle a little boric acid powder along the floorboards -- that'll kill 'em." If my math can be trusted, I had eighty kajillion roaches, and I had to be very smart. Of course, this was before the Internet, so research took some effort, but I went to the library, ready to arm myself for battle. The very first thing I learned is that killing Big Daddy Roach isn't good enough. You gotta kill the little daddies and the mommas and all of their darling roachlings, too, and still, they will probably have an egg case stashed somewhere, and the infestation will start all over again.

When my lease was up, I moved.

Personally, and I do not wish to argue with you or get into a political debate, and I realize I could be wrong, but I think our lease is up in Iraq. Maybe it's time to move on.

  2. heh. Oh yes, we've dealt with roaches. Spent a year in an apartment complex that crawled with them. Moved out ASAP.

Our lease in Iraq ran out before we got there IMO. But maybe that's just me.
