phone-phobic

I'm a horrible wuss when it comes to the phone. I'm almost phobic. I'll make excuses, pretend not to be home, ignore it, turn it off. Seriously, it freaks me out. I break into a wet sweat and stuff. Then, sometimes, it rings, and there's no one else to answer and make excuses for me, and so I answer, and mutter and stutter and stuff. And sometimes, I have the phone in my hand cuz I'm about to use it, and it rings, and I realize it's someone I love (thank god for caller ID!) and I answer before I have a chance to get scairt. So what's my point right? As in

what are you ON about Erin!? MARY CALLED! That's what.

I <3 Mary!

And I answered without stuttering or anything! And we talked for like 40 minutes, and we giggled and bitched and laughed and griped and had a generally female good time! Yeah, that's what a phone call is supposed to be like. I wonder why I hate the phone so much?

Heh. I'll have to change that.

I'll bet Ang and I would even survive a phone call... We're both phone phobic, so we've figured we'd have a phone call that sounded something like this:

Ring ring

Hello?

Hi!

silence

more silence

and more silence

Wellll, guess I should go...

Yeah, me too...

K. Well, Good talkin' to ya...

You too.

Bye

K, bye.

Oh, just before Mary called, the hospital called again. They wanted phone consent to insert another central line before the cath tomorrow. That means A) the cath is pretty much gonna happen. B) the veins are seriously more dilated than before or they wouldn't even attempt another central line C) they'll finally have another line to run meds through, which makes things much easier!

I needed a day like today!

Thank you Powers That Be!

  1. Wow, lots of good stuff today. I needed it too, in my own way.

Neat about the phone call. I'm really glad that you've broken through your phone phobia. You know, my job requires that I spend a huge amount of time on the phone, and when it's work related, I don't have a problem at all. I mean, sure, I always give it two rings in hopes that one of the other girls will get to it first, but once I'm actually on it, I do just fine.

Wish I could do the same with personal calls. I guess I'm just a naturally quiet person- or feel like I don't have much of interest to say.

Maybe one of these days soon we'll have that conversation. For now, I'm going to bask in the beauty of Nova's progress, and wish you a beautiful day, E.

  2. lol Ang, I nearly called you as soon as I hung up with Mary, but there was another call I had to make. By the time I was done with that, I chickened out. LMAO, I'm such a noodge. I'll do it sometime though, even if neither of us says a word ;) Then

I'll be able to say: Ang and I got to hear each other BREATHE on the phone!

    Haha sounds perverted!

Anyway, I'm basking in the goodness right now to, pull up a spot and enjoy the warmth *smooch!*

  3. Heh, if you were to call right now you'd get total silence for sure! Jonas managed to finally destroy the indestructable phone that we've had around for about 5 years. I can receive calls, and hear every word being spoken to me, but no one can hear me at all. Guess I'll be phone shopping this weekend.

Ugh, a new phone means a new contract, and we were hoping to switch services once our contract ended. :( But I can't be without a phone, I suppose, so I'm going to have to give in. It's not that I hate my service at all, it's just that everyone else I know is on a different service, and if I switch I can call everyone I need to for free instead of using up my minutes.

  4. :-D I love you too,Erin!! It was really good to hear your voice, finally! Sorry for coughing in your ear. lol. We're gonna have to do that again soon. It was fun and, I'm sure that if I didn't have so much ish to do, I bet we could've been on the phone for another 40 minutes! Don't be such a wuss. Pick up that phone and call Ang! *hug* Have an awesome day.

  5. Mary's such a (pardon the cliche, but it's true) ray of sunshine. E, you do good phone, I'll bet I'd agree even if I had been slightly more, ummmm, sober, last St. Patty's day. ;)

  7. lol James, hello dear!

    L~
It WAS a good conversation last St. Patty's day wasn't it? It's funny, I have such a mental block about making/taking calls, but once I'm on, I chatter like a chipmunk!

    Mary~
