No Match

We finally got the test results from Scott's bloodwork at 4:30 this afternoon. He isn't a match. To say we're disappointed would be a massive understatement. Now the doctors start searching for a match from the national registry. It seems almost impossible to believe that there won't be a match there - there are over 5 million potential donors listed, surely one will match. Now it's just a matter of racing the clock and keeping him healthy long enough to find the match and get the transplant.

Thank you again, for all the support, positive thoughts, and prayers on Randy's behalf. We appreciate every one of them, and ask that you continue to keep him in your thoughts. Several people have offered to donate to the registry in hopes that they'd be a match - if being a bone marrow donor is something you're interested in, please visit the National Registry Website.

Should you feel moved to donate in a more material manner, I'm leaving the donation button up until he's recovered. If you can't use (or don't trust) Paypal, feel free to send checks, money orders, or even get-well cards with positive wishes to Randy LeClair, to my address (he'll hunt me down and kill me himself if I post HIS address!) at 2509 Old Charlotte Hwy, Monroe NC, 28110.

  1. Erin, surely there's a match out there in this great big world. I'm keeping him in my thoughts and prayers and hoping that they find the match soon.

I'm sorry it didn't work out as easily as we all hoped it would, but that doesn't mean that there's not a happy ending to this.

    Hugs to you,and your family.

  2. Thanks Ang. I have to believe there's a match, and that we'll find it in time. There's a happy ending, and I'm claiming it.

  3. Good things still happen to good people. You're in my thoughts, as is Scott and Randy's family.

  5. I'm investigating the registry, and of course there is no facility in my state, but I'm trying to find out when they come through...dang backwater.

  8. Belinda~
(and anyone else thinking of donating marrow) I *think* the best way to find out would be to contact the red cross, they should know something or be able to refer you to someone who does.
    Erin~
Please don't send it if you can't afford it, if you feel obligated, you shouldn't, know what I mean? The positive thoughts won't pay for his meds, but they're very helpful, and you of all people know how completely I believe that!
    Ginger~
Thank you so much. We're not giving up though, and with you and everyone else's well-wishes, we're bound to get the news we're looking for.
